The Department of Education's 9 Program Offices....
There are nine Program Offices in the Department of Education, they are a big part of holding the Department of Education together. The first is called The Institute of Education Services this office is responsible for expanding knowledge of education and producing evidence on which to base educational practice and policy. The second office is The Office of English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement and Academic Achievement for Limited English Proficiency Students. This office is responsible for coordinating and recommending policy and practices and supporting quality instruction programs for those who are English language learners. The third offices name is The Office of Elementary and Secondary Education which provides leadership, technical assistance and financial support to states and local school systems. The Office of Innovation and Improvement is the fourth office of the DOE and known for the administers and coordinate programs and activities designed to support and test innovations in K12 school systems. The Office of Post-Secondary Education is the fifth office and they are responsible for making policies and administering programs that address critical national needs and promotes access to and quality of post-secondary education. The sixth office The Office Of safe and Drug Free Schools administers coordinates and recommends policies for improving programs and activities that promote the health and safety of students in schools and colleges. Some of these are drug and violence prevention programs, character and civic education and programs that support mental and physical health and wellness. The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services supports programs designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities and enhance the lives of youth and adults with disabilities by providing research and programs that maximize the potential of these individuals. The eighth office is known as The Office of Federal Student Aid administration this office administers the system that provides financial aid to students going to college and training programs, provides information and forms needed to apply for grants, loans and work study funds. The last and ninth office of the Department of Education is called The Office of Vocational and Adult Education this office supports a wide range of programs and activities that provides adults with basic education and skills necessary to obtain and high school diploma or GED and supports adults in pursuit of career, technical or lifelong learning.
